Crisis = theatre = crisis. Here is the double equation that Maxime Kurvers explores in Performative history of theatres in crisis, attempting to trace an oppositional and/or propitiatory history of theatrical art in the 21st century.

"The core question of this short film is: how do we position theatre in an era that performs breakdown everywhere? A narrative of catastrophe that saturates the imagination and imposes itself as a legitimate view of the world as much as an habitus of resignation. We observe that political, social, and paradigmatic crises create the conditions for a people to organize its representation, just as they foster an aesthetics of revolt within these crises. A people reinventing its institutions also reinvent its images." M.K.
